Solid wood stairs are true craftsmanship - the staircase is a central area that draws the eye more than almost anything else in the home. Unlike carpet, which is a budget option for stairs, hardwood is a higher-end, largely labor-driven project, and hardwood installation on stairs is 100% custom work, which is why expertise and experience are the deciding factors in getting a clean result. Real & Solid Hardwood Flooring - frequently asked questions

Properly installed solid hardwood lasts 50-100+ years, and our dry desert climate means less seasonal movement than in humid regions, so it stays flatter and tighter for longer. It can be sanded and refinished multiple times over its life, adding long-term resale value.

Not directly - solid hardwood is nailed into a wood subfloor. Over slab, which is how most Summerlin and Henderson homes are built, we either install plywood first or recommend engineered hardwood, which is dimensionally stable and glue-down friendly straight to concrete.

Prefinished planks arrive sealed at the factory (faster install, micro-bevels between boards). Site-finished is sanded and coated in your home for a perfectly flat, custom-color floor.

Solid hardwood reacts to temperature swings, so we generally recommend engineered hardwood over radiant heat. If you want solid wood, we'll specify narrow widths and rift-and-quartered cuts to minimize movement.
